The Zenith

(zee-nith) noun. in astronomy, the point in the sky or celestial sphere directly above an observer.

 Your Zenith's airy habitat is straight above your head:
it floats between the sky and space, a kite without a thread.
More loyal than your shadow, it sticks with you rain or shine;
your Zenith is attached to you, as I'm attached to mine.

When night descends it readies for the bedtime that you share;
as you nod off it curls up on a mattress made of air
and sips on cloudy vapor as the world turns midnight blue,
and there it stays, awash in starlight, watching over you.

Using their names keeps beastly words alive.
